ARMSA ROTO MOLDING PROJECT

ARMSA PROJECT
For this project i am required to do research about rational moulding in order to understand how it works. for this project i am also required to identify and tackle a problem which is faced in agriculture through design.

In this project i will be doing ideation sketches to find the perfect design direction. Upon finding a suitable design i will be doing refinement sketches an and finally create my product.

Casting process
For this process i used candle wax to cast. this process required a pot, a mini stove, candles, my product mould and a rotational molding machine.
To rotational mould one part, i had to melt one and a half candle in a pot, after the wax becomes a liquid i poured the wax into my mould, sealed the feeding hole and began the rotation process.
The rotation process lasts about 45min at minimum speed so the wax spreads evenly. then the mold is place in a cool area for cooling.
After the cooling process comes the demolding process where i carefully pull the part out of the mould and check for errors.
The final step involves spray painting the finished product into with the required paint colour.
Design process
The design process involved doing research about  rotational moulding to understand what this manufacturing process is and what limitations it has in terms of casting products. This process also involved finding a problem in the agricultural sector and solving it through designing a new product that can be roto molded. Furthermore, this project involved drawing ideation sketches, refinement sketches and a final design poster.

My most favourite part of this entire project involved rotational moulding and the waiting process before demoulding after the long wait. The process was pretty theraputic for me. Although this project was pricy, it was pretty straightforward and doable.
